Niagara Health Foundation Elimination Draw Achieves Record Year

On January 30, over 250 people gathered to ‘Break the Bank’ at Niagara Health Foundation’s Annual Elimination Draw at the Croatian National Home in Welland. Community partners and attendees helped raise over $35,000 and counting in support of Niagara Health’s Welland Site.
 
Niagara Health Foundation’s annual special events are crucial fundraisers that benefit Niagara Health Sites and their patients. The Elimination Draw specifically supports the purchase of vital medical equipment for Niagara Health’s Welland Site not covered by government funding. 
 
The evening was championed by John Clark of M.T. Bellies and Michael Grocholsky of Royal LePage NRC, who helped promote the event and helped recruit an overwhelming 16 corporate partners. Through their leadership and outreach, Niagara Health Foundation surpassed its fundraising goal for the evening.
 
“The amazing support at the Elimination Draw has helped us get one step closer to completing our $975,000 commitment to the Defibrillator Campaign at Niagara Health,” says Roger Ali, President & CEO of Niagara Health Foundation. “Funds raised will help purchase the 11 Defibrillators, at a cost of $25,000 each, for the Welland Site.”
 
The evening was closed with a surprise announcement from Royal LePage NRC management and team, as well as realtors Michael Grocholsky, Roman Grocholsky, and ­­­­­­Jeff and Jill Collins. The group proudly announced they would collectively be donating an additional $25,000 towards the defibrillator campaign. On February 11, the group presented Niagara Health Foundation with the cheque, bringing the event’s total raised to just over $60,000.
 
“At Royal LePage NRC we make it our mission to not only sell homes but also to be responsible for building a healthy and positive Niagara community. What better way to help those around us than by supporting the Niagara Health Foundation,” says Michael Grocholsky. “This gift will hopefully make the lives of our health care staff easier and is our way of saying thank you for all that they do.”
 
“The funds raised for the purchase of defibrillators will greatly enhance our ability to provide timely, up to date, lifesaving treatment,” says Patty Welychka, Director of Patient Care, Surgical Services, and Executive Lead and Chief Nursing Officer of the Welland and Port Colborne Sites.Defibrillation is often an important step in restoring the hearts function in certain situations, which will significantly help to improve survival rates.”
